“We are very excited to be hosting the 2nd Annual Pork in the Park in Merrill,” said Debbe Kinsey, chamber chief executive officer. “Last year’s ribfest drew more than 1300 people and we ran out of ribs! This year we have doubled our ribs and increased the number of grill competitors, so we are prepared for all the rib lovers.”

The ribfest is also the most affordable in the area – ribs will be sold for only ‘one buck a bone’ and will include sides sponsored by Park City Credit Union. In addition to the ribs, steak, chicken and pulled-pork sandwiches, corn-on-the-cob and ribbon fries will also be available for purchase. Ed & Sharon’s Wagon will be there too selling turkey and roast beef sandwiches and Trinity Lutheran Church will have apple pies. FOOD FOR KIDZ IN (MINOCQUA)
October 18, 2014 - October 18, 2014
8:00am
Lakeland Union High School
Minocqua

FOOD FOR KIDZ IN MINOCQUA
For the seventh year in a row, volunteers from the Lakeland area and surrounding communities will team up with non-profit organization “Food for Kidz” to help reduce world hunger. This event will take place on Saturday, October 18 at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.

Food for Kidz, a program of feeding children internationally, is an opportunity to serve others by packaging high protein, low cost meals which are then sent to those who need them. Many of those who receive these meals eat just one meal a day. The mission of Food for Kids is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and feed God’s starving children throughout the world. Our goal this year is to package 150,000 meals in just four hours. To accomplish this, 600 volunteers are needed. There will be two shifts on Saturday morning. The first shift is 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the second is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. People of all ages are needed from elementary age children, youth, young adults, the elderly and families and anyone who has a heart ready to help others. Getting involved is easy. Look for volunteer sign-up sheets at many area churches, the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce, MHLT, AV-W and LUHS schools.

Donations are also needed to pay for the food. Each meal costs 15 cents, but 150,000 meals will cost
$22,500. A donation of $32.40 will buy a box of food that will make 216 meals, but donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated. Make your check payable to Food for Kidz and send it to John Breiten, 1061 Keppler Road, Winchester, WI 54557.
